Charleston is one of my favorite cities in the U.S. I swear at some point in my life I will live there! I absolutely love the history, culture and beauty found here. Whether its the downtown market, Magnolia Gardens, Mount Pleasant or the Isle of Palms…Take me there and leave me!

#nofilter
Standardwow.
As I waited in line at the grocery store, a half-gallon of milk in one hand and a box of crackers in the other, I unconsciously thumbed through the photographs on one of the many social networks that has almost become uncomfortably synonymous with my generation. The photographs seemed to pass by in a blur of colors- friends enjoying dinner at a popular San Francisco restaurant, beautiful autumn colors highlighted on a trail, and an adorable pet doing something…well…adorable. However as I was admiring a photograph of an almost unbelievable sunset dipping into the ocean, my attention caught on one of the “hashtags” that lined the photo: “#nofilter”. It’s a common category, and almost anyone who has used the likes of Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook has seen it in reference to a photograph or image. But it got me thinking. Since when do we have to qualify our images with…

The 6 Stages of Final Exams As Told by Harry Potter
Standardthis is my life exactly.
1. Denial
Finals? Hahahahaha! Please. I’ve still got an entire week left. Do you have any idea what I can accomplish in that short amount of time? Seriously, there’s nothing to worry about. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna’ go paint my nails like little zebras.
2. Anger
Okay, it’s not like I’m mad about finals or anything, but seriously? A comprehensive test? How unfair is that?! And it’s worth, like, 96 percent of my grade. I’m too mad to study. School is so stupid. No, everything is stupid. LET’S START A REVOLUTION!
3. Procrastination
I’m just gonna’ go over to Tiffany’s for a quick study session. I always do my best work in groups. Oh, and Jennifer, Michael and Josh will be there too, but we’re definitely gonna’ get stuff done. Definitely…
4. Cramming
Okayokayokay. Two hours left until the test. I have four Redbulls in the fridge…

2013: The Year in 365 Pictures
StandardThe Hunger Games Conundrum
StandardGeorge Orwell and Aldous Huxley imagined two very different dystopias. In 1984 (1949), Orwell depicts the forces that held people captive as fundamentally external: coercion, espionage, laws, institutions, and threats, lies told by the powers-that-be (or, the state? government?). The vision of freedom that Orwell presents is primarily socio-political, with the greatest threat to humans being other humans, whether the Nazi, the slave-owner, or the autocrat etc… Oppression comes through pain, not pleasure; the essence of liberty is to be without external constraint. By contrast, Huxley’s Brave New World (1934), published just after the Wall Street crash had turned the excess of the twenties into the Great Depression of the thirties, portrays a future in which people are enslaved to forces within themselves: desire, inanity, hedonism, egotism, ignorance. Humans are free if they are able to choose, to will their own future, to decide for themselves what they will…

“The only thing…

Twelve Things.
StandardI am so new to the blogging game…I picked this up as a new side-hobby hoping it will stick! So i figure eventually people will choose to follow me so I wanted to get started on putting myself out there so to speak. Here’s twelve interesting/irrelevant/fun things about me.
1. I have always wanted to be fluent in a second language. I’ve picked up many phrases from several languages thanks to some friendly foreign exchange students, I am hoping to take German fall semester of next year…I don’t know if I will ever be fluent, but I would love to try!
2. Music is my escape. I use it ease my pain, relate to other’s whats going on and to simply have a good time. If you ask me what my favorite song is at any given time you’ll have a little insight into my soul and what’s going on with me.
3. I am currently seeking two separate degrees in Biology (BA–believe it or not!) and Health Sciences (BS)…if that doesn’t work out I am declared as a double major!
4. I often see the best in people and automatically will like you unless you give me a reason not to.
5. I want to be successful more than anything, yet I find myself daydreaming about the future more than actually making it happen.
6. My favorite food is baked mac & cheese! yum!
7. My heart is in Europe. I want to move there someday.
8. English is probably my best subject. I enjoy writing and reading far more than most, but failed to pursue it as an option in college.
9. I’d do anything to put my family back together.
10. Friendship is key. I believe that no human being can be complete without it.
11. I do my best thinking while venturing aimlessly in nature…whether it be the woods, an open field or on the back of a horse on a mountain top.
12. I chose twelve things because the number twelve is my absolute favorite number! Not sure why…but I always pick it when anything requires a number choice.
My Song of the Day: Hurricane.
VideoThis is my song of the day…I found it a couple of months back and have since then placed it on many of my spotify playlists. most of the time when i listen to a song it becomes less and less about the sound and more and more about the meaning behind it. This song makes me reflect on how wonderful it is to have someone that gets you/wants you despite your flaws, obscure thoughts or insecurities.
Happy Listening!
